FMA: Thumbelina

This is for 's contest. You had to draw Fullmetal Alchemist characters in a fairy tale. We choose Ed and Winry to draw in the Fairy Tale Thumbelina (Little Tiny). Ed is the Prince and Winry is Thumbelina. We thought they would be wearing flowers and since they are fairies instead of little clothes.

So if you guys don't know it's about a little person. She's very tiny, like no bigger than your thumb and is very pretty and has a lovely voice. Evil toads kidnap her then she gets engaged to the mole but (in the book) she is saved by a swallow. He brings her to a warm place, since winter is coming where it's warm and has nice flowers. He puts her down on a flower and meets the prince (it's his flower). He falls in love with her and asks to marry him and become the ruler of the Angels of the Flowers with him. She says yes and they give her a fly's wings so she can soar and change her name from Tiny to Maia.

The picture we did was more so based on the Animated adaption. I like the movie better than the book. In the movie she meets the prince at the beginning and she gets her own wings at the end. They sprout out of her back I guess you can say. In the movie they also refer to the Prince and his kind as faries. I love the songs in that movie. ^^ But even knowing some Spanish I still can't understand the Spanish toads. It's more so their English i can't understand, too fast.

To do this contest we looked up fairy tales. We wanted an more so unknown one, and we saw Thumbelina.So we watched the movie for reference. Then we started the pencil sketch (mom didn't like how late we were up hehe) and finished it in the morning. Then we inked and did the background, scanned, edited, printed, colored with copics, ink, colored pencils and paint, and after three days tada! ^___^ Its a bit unusual fanart but we really like it!!
